WeMachines vs Claude Cowork

Claude Cowork starts with a useful promise: give Claude an outcome and let it do the work across your files and tools. WeMachines starts with the team around that work. The conversation, the decision, the task and the pull request belong in a place everyone can follow, including the next agent to pick them up.

What Cowork does today

Cowork can produce documents, organize files and carry out research over multiple steps. Anthropic now describes cloud sessions, with web and mobile access in beta, that continue when your laptop closes. Scheduled tasks and projects add recurring work and persistent context. Access to local files and computer tools still needs a connected desktop app. These details matter when choosing where to run a job. See Anthropic’s getting-started guide.

This comparison uses the familiar Cowork name. Anthropic is also rolling chat and Cowork into one Claude experience, so the buttons you see may differ. We reviewed the linked documentation on September 22, 2026.

Where the work lives

Imagine a customer asks for a change during a call. Someone needs to capture the decision, check it against the existing plan, agree who owns it and get the fix reviewed. A good first draft helps. So does a place where the rest of the team can see what happened after the draft.

In WeMachines, chat, tasks, collaborative docs and huddles live together. The workspace AI can use that context when you ask it to turn a discussion into a task or update the spec. A person joining the work can open the same task and document. The explanation does not have to travel through the person who originally asked the AI.

Cowork’s connectors and plugins reach into existing tools, and its projects keep related work together. That is useful when your team already has places it wants to keep using. Anthropic’s setup guide walks through connecting those tools and choosing a working folder or project. Our approach is to bring the team’s daily coordination into the workspace itself.

From a task to a reviewed change

WeMachines connects the task board to the repository. A cloud coding agent can work on a branch and open a pull request. External coding agents can join the same workspace through MCP, the connection that lets an agent read and update the team’s tasks and docs. Their work can be visible on the board even when teammates use different coding tools.

A connected agent gets a briefing when it starts a task, including whether another agent is already working on it. Commits and pull requests that reference the task provide a trail back to the request. Repository workflow rules can move the task when the code is pushed or merged. That makes a handoff easier to inspect: the task points to the change, and the change points back to why it exists.

Where Cowork is the better fit

If your immediate need is a finished spreadsheet, a researched brief or work across the files and services you already use, Cowork is a natural place to start. You can introduce it without moving your team’s daily conversations and task board. Anthropic also offers Team and Enterprise plans; Cowork is not limited to individual use. Its product page describes those options and current availability.

WeMachines asks for a bigger change when those conversations already happen somewhere else. It earns its place when the team wants its people and agents working from the same decisions, docs and task state. A one-off document does not require that move.

Choose around the handoff

Try a real piece of work that involves two people. Ask where the decision ends up, how the second person finds the result and what the next agent needs to know. WeMachines is built to make that handoff part of the workspace.
