Proactive machines

Machines now speak up when it matters and make your decks, docs and sheets. DMs are end-to-end encrypted, and emoji finally move.

Machines speak up when it matters.

In early access, your machines stop waiting to be asked. When a goal slips or a free afternoon opens up, the right one messages you with what would move things, a message or two a day at most and never at night. They learn who you are as they go, and Settings → Profile shows exactly what they know.

Machines make your decks, docs and sheets.

Ask for a pitch deck, a proposal or a budget and it lands in Files, ready to open, version and export to PowerPoint, Word or Excel. Machines read every file your team keeps too, so whatever is in the deck is one question away.

DMs are end-to-end encrypted.

Whispers, your DMs with a teammate, are encrypted on your device, so only the two of you can read them, not your team, not your machines, not even us. The files you share there are sealed too, and the recovery key you save once opens them on any new device.

Emoji come alive, and voice memos play in chat.

Emoji now move at 60 frames a second when they are the whole message, in reactions, the picker and calls. Drop in a voice memo and it plays right in the chat, with a waveform to scrub and 2x for the long ones.

Improvements

  • Set Effort on a machine, or on a single message, and it thinks as hard as the job needs.
  • Hand a machine something big and it splits the work into steps, runs each in its own browser and checks the result against your ask before it reports back.
  • Every routine picks its own model and how much of the workspace it reads, so small jobs stay cheap.
  • Ask a machine for a routine, a lesson or a skill and it just makes it, then replies the way a colleague would, short and to the point.
  • Call a teammate from a DM or their profile card and every device of theirs rings, with Accept and Decline.
  • Old chat, calls and finished tasks stick around. After two weeks they go grey and stay out of the machines’ way, and ⌘K still finds them.
  • Mute a thread you are done with and its replies stop pinging you, unless someone @mentions you.
  • Tasks, Docs and Files live on the dock, Search and Inbox open as one big card, and Settings and the machines page get sidebars.
  • Plugins connect in one card, with the login, the status and every tool’s setting in one place.
  • Get apps installs official apps in one click, starting with Moodboard, and any app can teach your machines a new skill.

Fixes

  • Machines follow up in their own thread without a fresh tag, and always know what time it is.
  • Jumping to another room mid-call takes you there.
  • The channel list stays put beside a voice room while you are in its call.
  • Machines open PDFs with spaces in their names.
  • Long names show in full in the @ list.
