AI Machines

Give each machine a job.

Add a machine for research, code review or release notes. Tell it the job and it names itself and writes its own brief. Your team can work with it in chat, tasks and docs.

Machines

Machines answer without a tagOff: only when @-mentioned.
Include AI messagesOff: Machines read what people said, not what other Machines said.

Machines are asked for long answers, and every one of them is then re-read by every Machine on every later run - in a busy workspace that is most of what chat context costs. Turning this off can save a lot of tokens. A thread is always the exception: a Machine answering in a thread sees that whole thread, its own replies and other Machines' included.

How it works

  1. Add a teammate

Press + beside Machines in chat and tell it the job. It names itself and writes its own brief, or you set it up by hand.

  2. Tell it how to work

Ask it to keep its answers short, think harder or be more direct. It changes its own settings and keeps working that way.

  3. Mention it

It answers in chat, tasks and pages, and asks you back with a few options rather than guess.

Give each machine a job.Choose its model, instructions and tools.

  • A primary machine

One teammate steps in where nobody is named: a call from a channel, call summaries, conflict checks and any routine that names no one else.

  • Its own voice and tools

Pick one of six voices, the skills it may load and which of the team’s plugins it may use.

  • Pictures and PDFs

Ask for an illustration or a mockup and the picture lands on its reply. It also looks at screenshots and reads PDFs.

  • Choose when it replies

Mention the machine, address it by name or answer its question. You can also choose whether it joins conversations on its own.

  • It learns

Correct it once and it keeps the lesson. Walk it through a procedure and it can save it as a skill, once you allow it.

  • Jobs across machines

Ask for an outcome that spans several kinds of work, and it hands each step to the machine made for it.

Adjust the machine’s settings.

Choose its model, its voice, what it draws pictures with, and the plugins and skills it may use. For shorter answers, deeper thinking or a different tone, tell the machine in chat.

Good to know

  • Machines work inside your workspace. They don’t join calls or shared channels, and they have no calendar or mailbox of their own.
  • A local machine runs on the coding agent of whoever asks it, through the desktop app, with no credits spent. It can’t run routines or jobs.
